Picked up by a Claude session with the `superpowers:subagent-driven-development` skill, then suspended for the user to resume elsewhere.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## Run configuration\\n\\nThe user authorized autonomous execution under these constraints:\\n\\n| Knob | Value |\\n|---|---|\\n| Scope this run | Backend only — Phases 1–4 (Tasks 1–11 of 30) |\\n| Branch | `main` (live — no feature branch was used) |\\n| Working tree | Forgejo MCP only (`forgejo_get_file` / `forgejo_upload_file` / `forgejo_upload_files_batch`) |\\n| Test execution | **None.** No local clone exists in the session. The plan's \\\"run test → verify FAIL/PASS\\\" steps were treated as eyeball-review of the diff. |\\n| Reviews | Two-stage per task: spec compliance review, then code quality review. Both as separate subagents. |\\n\\nThese constraints carry over until a future session changes them. **No `go test` or `npm run build` has been executed against any commit on this branch.** Run them on a checkout before relying on the new code.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## Progress\\n\\n### ✅ Complete\\n\\n#### Task 1 — DB schema additions: `host_acl` and `invites` tables, versioned migrations\\n\\n- `backend/internal/db/db.go` — `migrate()` rewritten as a transactional `user_version` ladder (v0→v1→v2). The v2 step rebuilds `users` with a CHECK-constraint superset (`'admin','user','member','viewer'`) for rollback safety, maps existing `'user'` rows to `'member'`, then creates `host_acl` and `invites`.\\n - Commit: `58a149a`\\n- `backend/internal/db/migrations_test.go` — **new file**, declared `package db` (internal test package, NOT `package db_test`), holds two tests: `TestMigrateCreatesHostACLAndInvites` and `TestUserVersionAfterMigrate`.\\n - Commit: `7e254ce`\\n - **Why a new file:** the existing `db_test.go` is `package db_test`, but the new tests reference the unexported `s.db` field and so must be in `package db`. Keep this convention going for migration-internals tests; tests that only need the public API can stay in `db_test.go`.\\n- `backend/internal/db/db_test.go` — unchanged.\\n\\n**Spec compliance review:** ✅ APPROVED (subagent verified by re-fetching the committed files; transaction wrapping, version guards, schema columns/CHECKs/FKs/PKs all match the spec; no extra code).\\n\\n**Code quality review:** ⚠️ **NOT YET RUN.** The session paused at the point of dispatching the code-quality reviewer subagent. To resume, run the standard code review against `git diff <pre-Task-1-SHA>..7e254ce -- backend/internal/db/`. Use the template at `superpowers:requesting-code-review` (`code-reviewer.md`).\\n\\n### ⏳ Pending — Tasks 2 through 11\\n\\n| # | Task | Files | Notes for the next implementer |\\n|---|---|---|---|\\n| 2 | Migration test (user→member rename + idempotency) | append to `backend/internal/db/migrations_test.go` | Plan-quoted code uses `&Store{db: d}` directly — works because the test file is now `package db`. |\\n| 3 | Host ACL CRUD helpers | `backend/internal/db/db.go` (append), `backend/internal/db/db_test.go` (append, public-API tests) | Add `HostGrant`, `HostACLEntry` types; `Grant/Revoke/Get/ListUserHostAccess/ListHostACL`. Imports `database/sql` (already present). Tests can stay in `package db_test` since they use only public methods. |\\n| 4 | Invite CRUD + redemption | same two files | Adds `crypto/sha256`, `encoding/hex`, `encoding/json`, `errors` imports. `RedeemInvite` is the transactional invite-consumer that issues credentials. Caps viewer-role invites at level `view` regardless of grant. Exposes `ErrInviteInvalid`. |\\n| 5 | `RequireHostAccess` middleware | new `backend/internal/auth/host_access.go`, new `backend/internal/auth/host_access_test.go` | Also expose a public `LevelRank(level) int` helper from this file — Task 10 calls it from the API package. Test file uses `package auth_test`. Setup helper builds a stub router that injects `&auth.Claims{}` into the context. |\\n| 6 | Setup endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/setup.go`, new `backend/internal/api/setup_test.go`, modify `backend/internal/api/api.go` | Defines `MinPasswordLen = 8`. `POST /api/setup` is public, idempotency-guarded against existing users (re-checks under no lock). Calls `auth.SignToken`. The shared `newTestServer(t)` helper lives here and is reused by Tasks 7, 8, 10. |\\n| 7 | Invite endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/invites.go`, new `backend/internal/api/invites_test.go`, modify `api.go` | Public `GET /api/invite/:token` (peek) returns label/role/host_count/expires_at — **does NOT leak host IPs**. `POST /api/invite/:token/redeem` validates uniqueness, length ≥ MinPasswordLen, transactional via `db.RedeemInvite`. Admin endpoints under `/api/admin/invites`. |\\n| 8 | Host-ACL endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/access.go`, new `backend/internal/api/access_test.go`, modify `api.go` | Four admin handlers: `GET /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access`, `PUT/DELETE /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access/:user_id`, `GET /api/admin/users/:id/access`. |\\n| 9 | Account endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/account.go`, modify `api.go` | `GET /api/account/me` returns `{id, username, role, created_at, host_access[]}`. `PUT /api/account/password` with old + new (≥ MinPasswordLen). Imports `dragonrelay/internal/db`. No new test file in the plan; covered by integration via existing patterns. |\\n| 10 | Filter `/api/hosts` + ACL on connect/pair/delete | modify `backend/internal/api/api.go`, new `backend/internal/api/hosts_filter_test.go`, modify `backend/internal/auth/host_access.go` | Replaces the current `RequireRole(\\\"admin\\\",\\\"user\\\")` middleware on connect/pair/delete with a body-aware in-handler `s.checkHostAccess(c, ip, level)` helper (because connect/pair pass IP in body, not URL). Filters `/api/hosts` to only IPs the caller has any grant on (admin sees all). |\\n| 11 | Migration backfill | modify `backend/internal/db/db.go`, append to `backend/internal/db/migrations_test.go`, modify `backend/cmd/dragonrelay/main.go` | New `BackfillHostACL([]string)`: for every non-admin user, INSERT-OR-IGNORE `host_acl` rows. `member`→`connect`, `viewer`→`view`. `main.go` runs this after a 5-second delay so the discoverer has had time to gather hosts. Idempotent, runs every boot — safe. |\\n\\n### 🚫 Out of scope this run — Tasks 12 through 30\\n\\nThe user scoped this run to the backend (Phases 1–4). Frontend work (Tasks 12–28: deps, design tokens, UI primitives, AppShell, all pages, Settings refactor) and polish (Tasks 29–30: README, smoke pass) were explicitly deferred.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## Constraints / gotchas the next session should know\\n\\n1. **Test execution is the open risk.** Every commit on this branch since `dd5842e` has been written without `go test` ever running. Before merging Task 1's commits into a release, run:\\n ```bash\\n cd backend && go test ./internal/db -v -run 'TestMigrate|TestUserVersion'\\n ```\\n (and the same for any subsequent task's tests).\\n\\n2. **Test package split.** Migration internals (anything touching the unexported `db` field of `Store`) goes in `package db` files like `migrations_test.go`. Public-API tests stay in `package db_test`. Don't mix.\\n\\n3. **Forgejo MCP commits one file per call.** `forgejo_upload_files_batch` exists and was used for Task 1; it produces one commit per file (with the same prefix message). The plan's \\\"Step N: Commit\\\" lines that bundle multiple files into one commit are aspirational under this tool — accept that each task produces N commits where N = files touched.\\n\\n4. **The full plan content** (4484 lines, 130KB) is **not** in the repo. The committed plan file is a stub with a task index. The full plan lives only in the user's local workspace folder at `~/Documents/Claude/Projects/Dragonflight Relay/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign.md`. The next session can either work from that local copy, or paste the full task text per-task into implementer subagent prompts the way the previous session did.\\n\\n5. **Task code quality review for Task 1 is owed.** Don't move on to Task 2 without running it.\\n\\n6. **No worktree / feature branch.** Subsequent sessions could choose to create one and rebase the Task-1 commits — preferable for production hygiene, but the user explicitly chose `main` for this run.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## How to resume\\n\\nIn a new session:\\n\\n1. Open the project folder, attach this status file or summarize it.\\n2. Read the spec and the local copy of the plan.\\n3. Run the deferred Task 1 code quality review (template: `superpowers:requesting-code-review`).\\n4. Address any quality issues found, then dispatch the Task 2 implementer per the plan.\\n5. Continue with subagent-driven-development through Task 11 (or change scope).\\n\\nA short prompt to bootstrap a new session:\\n\\n> Read `docs/superpowers/plans/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign-STATUS.md` and the plan + spec it links to. We paused after Task 1's spec review approved. Run the deferred code-quality review on Task 1's diff (commits up to `7e254ce`), address findings, then execute Tasks 2–11 the same way: implementer subagent → spec review → code review → next.\\n\"}"}]},"uuid":"5a2c7048-84eb-4c41-9d8c-8fe5e068a71b","timestamp":"2026-05-06T03:23:32.129Z","sourceToolAssistantUUID":"3016e36c-4654-4880-b3a8-5b730b25ee83","userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-ts","cwd":"/home/node","sessionId":"9b13371c-0b62-457e-a8bf-a331b2d5b744","version":"2.1.129","gitBranch":"HEAD"}

UI refresh — design system, layout, and component polish\\n2. Per-host permissions — granular access control on top of existing roles\\n3. Onboarding — first-run setup wizard for the admin, invite-link flow for everyone else\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 1. Context\\n\\nDragon Flight Relay is currently deployed in production on a TrueNAS box. The April spec (rename, JWT auth, three roles, admin panel, SQLite, sessions) shipped and is in use. This iteration is the second pass — adding polish and the access-control primitives that the homelab/family use case actually needs.\\n\\n### What's already in place (don't rebuild)\\n- Go backend: `discovery`, `moonlight`, `tailscale`, `db`, `auth`, `config`, `api` packages\\n- JWT auth, three roles (`admin` / `user` / `viewer`), bcrypt password hashing\\n- SQLite at `/data/dragonrelay.db` with `users` table; `migrate()` is idempotent\\n- React + Vite + TS frontend with Tailwind, `AuthContext`, `RequireRole`, full Settings page (VPN / Hosts / Sessions / Users tabs)\\n- mDNS discovery, manual host add, session registry, sessions disconnect\\n\\n### What hurts today\\n- **UI** is functional but feels like a v0: navy + crimson palette, dense tables, no design system, no toasts, full-page modal Settings, no proper routing, inline state-flashes. Doesn't feel like something you want to look at every day.\\n- **Permissions are coarse**: a `user` can connect to *every* host the relay can see. There's no way to give the kids access only to the family-room PC, or give a friend temporary access to one host without giving them the whole tailnet's worth of streams.\\n- **Onboarding is friction-heavy**: admin must SSH in to set `DRAGONRELAY_ADMIN_PASSWORD`, restart, log in, then manually create each user with a chosen username + password to share over text. There's no in-product first-run flow and no invite primitive.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 2. Design Decisions (Made Autonomously)\\n\\nThese are the calls I made without asking. Push back on any of them in spec review.\\n\\n| Decision | What I picked | Alternative I rejected | Why |\\n|---|---|---|---|\\n| **Permission model** | Three global roles (`admin`, `member`, `viewer`) **+** per-host ACL with three levels (`view`, `connect`, `manage`) | Groups (users → groups → hosts) | Groups add a layer for a household-scale tool. Direct ACL is cheaper to build and reason about. Easy to add groups later if needed. |\\n| **Role rename** | `user` → `member`, keep `viewer`, drop nothing | Drop `viewer` entirely | `viewer` is a useful \\\"I trust you to look but not click\\\" tier (e.g. parent showing kid the dashboard). Keep it. |\\n| **ACL default** | New non-admin users see **zero** hosts until granted | Default to access-all (current behavior) | Principle of least privilege; matches the use case (\\\"only the kids can stream the family-room PC\\\"). Migration grandfathers existing members in. |\\n| **Onboarding A — first run** | In-product `/setup` wizard when 0 users exist; replaces the env-var seed flow (env still works as fallback) | Keep CLI-only seeding | The user said \\\"easy onboarding.\\\" A wizard is the obvious win. Env-var fallback preserves backward compat for unattended Docker rebuilds. |\\n| **Onboarding B — invites** | Admin generates a single-use invite link with pre-set role + host access; invitee picks own username + password | Email-based magic links | No SMTP server in a homelab. A copy-pasteable link sent over Signal/SMS is what people actually do. |\\n| **Invite token** | URL-safe random (32 bytes), stored hashed in DB, expires after 7 days, single-use | JWT with claims | Hashed random tokens are revocable and can't be tampered with. JWTs leak claims and don't revoke without a blocklist. |\\n| **UI direction** | New design system: slate base, violet accent, warm \\\"connect\\\" CTA. Sidebar nav layout. React Router. Toast system. Lightweight UI primitives (`Button`/`Input`/`Card`/`Badge`/`Toast`/`Modal`/`Select`) — no shadcn/ui. | shadcn/ui scaffold | The whole frontend bundle is small today; shadcn brings in Radix primitives that are great but heavier than needed for this surface area. Hand-rolled primitives stay close to the existing Tailwind setup. |\\n| **Routing** | Add `react-router-dom` v6 — routes for `/`, `/login`, `/setup`, `/invite/:token`, `/settings/*`, `/account` | State-based view switching (current) | The Settings page is doing nested-tab gymnastics in `useState`. Real routes are cheaper, give us deep links, and let the invite/setup flows live at proper URLs. |\\n| **Mobile** | Responsive down to ~375px. Sidebar collapses to bottom-nav on small screens. | Desktop-only | You'll want to launch a stream from your phone while sitting on the couch. |\\n| **Visuals** | Keep dragon emoji as fallback but ship an inline SVG dragon mark for the wordmark. Inter font. Subtle glow on online host cards. | Custom illustration suite | Out of scope for this pass; SVG mark is enough lift for the brand. |\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 3. Architecture Overview\\n\\n```\\n┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐\\n│ Browser (any device on the tailnet) │\\n│ │\\n│ React SPA │\\n│ ├─ React Router v6 │\\n│ │ ├─ / Dashboard (filtered host grid) │\\n│ │ ├─ /login Login page │\\n│ │ ├─ /setup First-run wizard (gated by setup API) │\\n│ │ ├─ /invite/:t Invite redemption │\\n│ │ ├─ /settings/* Admin tabs (vpn/hosts/users/sessions/ │\\n│ │ │ invites/access) │\\n│ │ └─ /account Self-service password change │\\n│ ├─ AppShell (sidebar/topnav, toast host) │\\n│ ├─ AuthContext (token, user, role, hostAccess[]) │\\n│ └─ ui/* primitives (Button/Input/Card/Badge/Modal/Toast) │\\n│ │\\n└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘\\n │ HTTPS over tailscale\\n ▼\\n┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐\\n│ Go server (existing process, new modules added) │\\n│ │\\n│ internal/api │\\n│ ├─ existing handlers (status/hosts/connect/pair/...) │\\n│ ├─ NEW: setup.go (first-run wizard endpoints) │\\n│ ├─ NEW: invites.go (create/list/redeem/revoke) │\\n│ └─ NEW: access.go (host-ACL CRUD) │\\n│ internal/auth │\\n│ ├─ existing JWT + role middleware │\\n│ └─ NEW: HostACL middleware (`RequireHostAccess(level)`) │\\n│ internal/db │\\n│ ├─ existing users table │\\n│ ├─ NEW: host_acl table │\\n│ └─ NEW: invites table │\\n│ │\\n└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘\\n```\\n\\nNo process re-architecture. Net new code is bounded to three new files in `api/`, one helper in `auth/`, and three new tables in `db/`.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 4. Component Design\\n\\n### 4.1 Backend\\n\\n#### 4.1.1 Schema additions (in `internal/db/db.go`)\\n\\n```sql\\n-- Per-host access grants. Admins are not present here (implicit access).\\nCREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS host_acl (\\n host_ip TEXT NOT NULL,\\n user_id INTEGER NOT NULL,\\n level TEXT NOT NULL CHECK(level IN ('view','connect','manage')),\\n granted_by INTEGER,\\n granted_at DATETIME DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,\\n PRIMARY KEY (host_ip, user_id),\\n FOREIGN KEY (user_id) REFERENCES users(id) ON DELETE CASCADE,\\n FOREIGN KEY (granted_by) REFERENCES users(id) ON DELETE SET NULL\\n);\\n\\n-- Invite links. Token stored as sha256 hex; raw token shown once on creation.\\nCREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS invites (\\n id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT,\\n token_hash TEXT NOT NULL UNIQUE,\\n label TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', -- \\\"Kids\\\" or \\\"Mom's iPad\\\"\\n role TEXT NOT NULL CHECK(role IN ('admin','member','viewer')),\\n host_access TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '[]', -- JSON: [{\\\"host_ip\\\":\\\"...\\\",\\\"level\\\":\\\"connect\\\"}]\\n created_by INTEGER NOT NULL,\\n created_at DATETIME DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,\\n expires_at DATETIME NOT NULL,\\n used_at DATETIME,\\n used_by_user_id INTEGER,\\n FOREIGN KEY (created_by) REFERENCES users(id),\\n FOREIGN KEY (used_by_user_id) REFERENCES users(id)\\n);\\n```\\n\\n**Role enum migration:** the existing `users.role` CHECK constraint allows `('admin','user','viewer')`. SQLite can't `ALTER TABLE` a CHECK constraint, so the migration:\\n1. Creates `users_new` with the new constraint `('admin','member','viewer')`.\\n2. Copies rows, mapping `user → member`.\\n3. Drops `users`, renames `users_new → users`.\\n4. Recreates the unique index on `username`.\\n\\nWrapped in a transaction. Idempotent — guard with `PRAGMA user_version` check (set `user_version=2` after migration).\\n\\n**Level semantics:**\\n- `view` — host appears in the user's `/api/hosts` response. Cannot connect, pair, modify.\\n- `connect` — `view` + can `POST /api/connect` to launch the stream.\\n- `manage` — `connect` + can `POST /api/pair`, `DELETE /api/hosts/:ip`, rename. Still cannot grant access (admin-only).\\n- `admin` global role — bypasses all checks.\\n- `viewer` global role — capped at `view` regardless of grants. Used for read-only audit accounts.\\n\\n**Host identity:** ACL keys on `host_ip`. mDNS-discovered hosts and manually-added hosts both have stable IPs in this deployment (Tailscale IPs are stable per device). If a host's IP changes, its ACL is orphaned and must be re-granted. This matches Tailscale's mental model and is acceptable for the homelab use case.\\n\\n#### 4.1.2 Db helpers (added to `internal/db/db.go`)\\n\\n```go\\n// Host ACL\\nfunc (s *Store) ListHostACL(hostIP string) ([]HostGrant, error)\\nfunc (s *Store) ListUserHostAccess(userID int64) ([]HostGrant, error)\\nfunc (s *Store) GetHostAccess(userID int64, hostIP string) (level string, ok bool, err error)\\nfunc (s *Store) GrantHostAccess(userID int64, hostIP, level string, grantedBy int64) error\\nfunc (s *Store) RevokeHostAccess(userID int64, hostIP string) error\\n\\n// Invites — token argument is the raw secret; we hash inside.\\nfunc (s *Store) CreateInvite(token, label, role string, hostAccess []HostGrant, createdBy int64, expires time.Time) (int64, error)\\nfunc (s *Store) ListActiveInvites() ([]InviteRecord, error)\\nfunc (s *Store) GetInviteByToken(token string) (*InviteRecord, error)\\nfunc (s *Store) RedeemInvite(token, username, password string) (userID int64, err error)\\nfunc (s *Store) RevokeInvite(id int64) error\\n\\ntype HostGrant struct {\\n HostIP string `json:\\\"host_ip\\\"`\\n Level string `json:\\\"level\\\"` // \\\"view\\\" | \\\"connect\\\" | \\\"manage\\\"\\n}\\n\\ntype InviteRecord struct {\\n ID int64\\n Label string\\n Role string\\n HostAccess []HostGrant\\n CreatedBy int64\\n CreatedAt time.Time\\n ExpiresAt time.Time\\n UsedAt *time.Time\\n UsedByID *int64\\n}\\n```\\n\\n`RedeemInvite` is the only mutation that issues credentials: it does, in one transaction, `INSERT INTO users` + bulk `INSERT INTO host_acl` + mark the invite used.\\n\\n#### 4.1.3 Middleware\\n\\nIn `internal/auth/middleware.go`, add:\\n\\n```go\\n// RequireHostAccess returns a handler that aborts 403 if the authenticated\\n// user lacks the required level for the host IP at param `:ip`.\\n// admins bypass; viewers are capped at \\\"view\\\".\\nfunc RequireHostAccess(store *db.Store, minLevel string) gin.HandlerFunc\\n```\\n\\nThe hierarchy `view < connect < manage` is encoded as `levelRank(level) >= levelRank(minLevel)`.\\n\\n#### 4.1.4 Route changes\\n\\n```\\nPUBLIC (no auth):\\n POST /api/auth/login unchanged\\n POST /api/auth/logout unchanged\\n GET /api/setup/state NEW — returns {needs_setup: bool}\\n POST /api/setup NEW — only valid when needs_setup\\n GET /api/invite/:token NEW — peek invite (label, role, host count, expires)\\n POST /api/invite/:token/redeem NEW — body {username, password} → {token}\\n\\nAUTHED (JWT required):\\n GET /api/status unchanged\\n GET /api/hosts CHANGED — filtered by ACL (admin sees all)\\n POST /api/connect CHANGED — RequireHostAccess(store, \\\"connect\\\")\\n POST /api/pair CHANGED — RequireHostAccess(store, \\\"manage\\\")\\n DELETE /api/hosts/:ip CHANGED — RequireHostAccess(store, \\\"manage\\\")\\n POST /api/hosts/manual unchanged (admin-only)\\n GET /api/admin/sessions unchanged\\n GET /api/account/me NEW — current user + access list\\n PUT /api/account/password NEW — self-service password change\\n\\nADMIN-ONLY:\\n GET /api/admin/config unchanged\\n PUT /api/admin/config unchanged\\n POST /api/admin/sessions/:id/disconnect unchanged\\n GET /api/admin/users unchanged\\n POST /api/admin/users unchanged\\n PUT /api/admin/users/:id unchanged\\n DELETE /api/admin/users/:id unchanged\\n GET /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access NEW — list grants for a host\\n PUT /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access/:user_id NEW — body {level} → grant\\n DELETE /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access/:user_id NEW — revoke\\n GET /api/admin/users/:id/access NEW — list grants for a user (alt view)\\n GET /api/admin/invites NEW — list active invites\\n POST /api/admin/invites NEW — body {label, role, host_access[], expires_in_days} → {token, url}\\n DELETE /api/admin/invites/:id NEW — revoke\\n```\\n\\n**Filtering of `/api/hosts`** is implemented in the handler, not the discoverer: `Discoverer.Hosts()` keeps returning all hosts, and the API layer filters per-request based on the caller's claims + ACL. Keeps the discoverer pure and ACL logic concentrated in `api/`.\\n\\n#### 4.1.5 First-run setup\\n\\n`GET /api/setup/state` returns `{\\\"needs_setup\\\": true}` iff `SELECT COUNT(*) FROM users == 0`. The frontend hits this on app load before deciding what to render.\\n\\n`POST /api/setup` body:\\n```json\\n{\\n \\\"admin_username\\\": \\\"zac\\\",\\n \\\"admin_password\\\": \\\"...\\\",\\n \\\"ts_authkey\\\": \\\"tskey-auth-...\\\",\\n \\\"ts_hostname\\\": \\\"dragonrelay\\\",\\n \\\"lan_only\\\": false\\n}\\n```\\nServer:\\n1. Re-checks `users` table is empty (race protection).\\n2. Creates the admin user.\\n3. Persists the Tailscale fields to `config.json` (only if non-LAN-only).\\n4. Returns `{\\\"token\\\": \\\"...\\\", \\\"restart_required\\\": <bool>}` — `restart_required` is true iff Tailscale config was actually written (LAN-only setup needs no restart). Frontend shows \\\"Container restarting…\\\" only when true, then polls `/api/status` until reconnected and redirects.\\n\\nIf `DRAGONRELAY_ADMIN_PASSWORD` env is set on a fresh boot, the existing seed code still runs — `needs_setup` then returns `false`. The wizard is one of two paths to first-admin, not the only one.\\n\\n#### 4.1.6 Invite redemption\\n\\n`POST /api/invite/:token/redeem` body:\\n```json\\n{ \\\"username\\\": \\\"alex\\\", \\\"password\\\": \\\"...\\\" }\\n```\\nServer (in a single transaction):\\n1. Look up invite by `sha256(token)`. 404 if missing, expired, or used.\\n2. Validate username uniqueness. 409 on conflict.\\n3. Validate password length ≥ 8 (the same minimum used by the setup wizard; both share a `auth.MinPasswordLen` constant).\\n4. Insert user with the invite's role.\\n5. Bulk-insert all host_acl rows from the invite's host_access JSON.\\n6. Mark invite `used_at = now`, `used_by_user_id = new_user_id`.\\n7. Issue JWT.\\n8. Return `{\\\"token\\\": \\\"...\\\"}`.\\n\\n### 4.2 Frontend\\n\\n#### 4.2.1 Tooling additions\\n\\n- `react-router-dom@^6` — routing\\n- `clsx` + `tailwind-merge` — `cn()` helper for the UI primitives\\n- (No shadcn/ui, no Radix; no Headless UI.)\\n\\n`package.json` `name` field also flips from `moonlight-relay` → `dragonrelay` (lingering rename leftover).\\n\\n#### 4.2.2 Design system\\n\\n`src/lib/design.ts` — single source of truth for tokens. Updated `tailwind.config.js`:\\n\\n```js\\ncolors: {\\n bg: {\\n DEFAULT: '#0b0d12', // slate-950 ish\\n raised: '#11141c',\\n sunken: '#070810',\\n elev1: '#1a1d27',\\n elev2: '#252a37',\\n },\\n text: {\\n primary: '#f4f5f8',\\n secondary: '#9aa3b2',\\n muted: '#5d6677',\\n },\\n brand: {\\n DEFAULT: '#7c3aed', // violet-600\\n hover: '#6d28d9',\\n glow: '#a78bfa66',\\n },\\n cta: {\\n DEFAULT: '#f97316', // amber-500 — for \\\"Connect\\\"\\n hover: '#ea580c',\\n },\\n status: {\\n online: '#10b981',\\n offline: '#6b7280',\\n busy: '#f59e0b',\\n error: '#ef4444',\\n },\\n},\\nfontFamily: {\\n sans: ['Inter','system-ui','-apple-system','Segoe UI','Roboto','sans-serif'],\\n mono: ['JetBrains Mono','ui-monospace','SF Mono','Menlo','monospace'],\\n},\\nborderRadius: {\\n // Slightly rounder than current — more \\\"soft tech\\\"\\n card: '14px',\\n pill: '9999px',\\n},\\n```\\n\\nExisting `surface`/`accent` color tokens stay aliased to the new ones for one release so we don't have to flip every file at once.\\n\\n#### 4.2.3 UI primitives — `src/components/ui/`\\n\\nHand-rolled, ~30 LOC each. No external deps.\\n\\n- `Button` — variants `primary | cta | secondary | ghost | danger`, sizes `sm | md | lg`, loading state.\\n- `Input`, `Textarea`, `Select` — labeled, error state, helper text.\\n- `Card` — section container with optional title/footer.\\n- `Badge` — statuses (online/offline/busy/error) and role tags.\\n- `Modal` — focus-trapped, esc-to-close, backdrop click closes if dismissable.\\n- `Toast` + `useToast()` — replaces all `setFlash(...)` patterns. Stack of dismissable banners in the bottom-right.\\n- `Tooltip` — minimal CSS-only tooltip wrapper.\\n- `EmptyState` — large icon + title + body + CTA.\\n- `Skeleton` — pulsing block for loading.\\n\\n#### 4.2.4 Layout & routing\\n\\n`AppShell` (`src/components/layout/AppShell.tsx`) — flex layout:\\n- **Desktop ≥ md:** left sidebar (240px) with logo, primary nav, account chip at bottom. Main column scrolls.\\n- **Mobile < md:** topbar with logo + hamburger; nav collapses into a slide-in drawer (left edge). One layout pattern, not two — keeps shell code small.\\n\\n`src/main.tsx` mounts `<AuthProvider>` → `<BrowserRouter>` → `<RouteSwitch>` which decides:\\n\\n```\\n0 users in system → redirect to /setup\\nnot authenticated → redirect to /login (preserving target ?next=...)\\nauthenticated → render <AppShell> with the matched route inside\\n```\\n\\nPublic routes (`/login`, `/setup`, `/invite/:token`) render outside the shell on a centered card layout (current Login look-and-feel, refined).\\n\\nSettings becomes nested:\\n```\\n/settings → redirect to first allowed tab\\n/settings/vpn (admin)\\n/settings/hosts (admin)\\n/settings/users (admin)\\n/settings/sessions (any authed; viewer hides Disconnect)\\n/settings/invites (admin)\\n/settings/access (admin) — host-by-host or user-by-user matrix\\n```\\n\\n#### 4.2.5 Pages\\n\\n**Dashboard (`/`)** — refreshed `App.tsx`:\\n- Status card at top: VPN state, your IP, host count.\\n- Host grid below. Cards refreshed with: status pill, last-seen, IP, current app (if running), big Connect button, secondary Pair / Disconnect (manage-level only).\\n- Empty state: large \\\"no hosts yet\\\" card with two paths — \\\"Wait for discovery\\\" copy with a spinner, or \\\"Add a host manually\\\" CTA (admin only).\\n- Toast on connect success/failure.\\n\\n**Setup wizard (`/setup`)** — single-card multi-step:\\n1. Welcome — \\\"Let's get your relay online.\\\"\\n2. Admin account — username + password + confirm.\\n3. Tailscale — paste auth key OR check \\\"LAN-only mode.\\\"\\n4. Hostname — defaults to `dragonrelay`.\\n5. Done — \\\"Restarting now. We'll be back at `<addr>` in a few seconds.\\\"\\n\\nEach step has Back/Next; final step posts to `/api/setup`. If restart_required, shows a polling indicator that hits `/api/status` until it reconnects, then redirects to `/`.\\n\\n**Invite redemption (`/invite/:token`)** — single-card:\\n- Shows \\\"{inviter_name} invited you to Dragon Flight Relay\\\" (no inviter — just \\\"You've been invited\\\").\\n- Shows summary of what you'll get (role + N host(s)).\\n- Username + password + confirm.\\n- \\\"Create account\\\" → success → auto-login → `/`.\\n\\n**Settings → Users (`/settings/users`)** — refreshed table from existing UI. Actions per row include the existing Reset PW / Delete plus a new **Manage access** button that opens a modal with a host-by-host checklist (each row: host name + level dropdown). Saves call `/api/admin/users/:id/access`.\\n\\n**Settings → Invites (`/settings/invites`)** — new tab:\\n- Table of active invites: label, role, hosts, expires in, copy-link, revoke.\\n- \\\"Create invite\\\" button → modal: label, role select (member/viewer), host-access multi-select (per-host level picker), expiry days (1/3/7/30, default 7). On create, the modal flips to a \\\"Copy this link\\\" view — the raw token is shown **once**.\\n\\n**Settings → Access (`/settings/access`)** — new tab:\\n- Pivot view: list of hosts with grant counts; clicking a host reveals user grants for that host. Mirror of Users → Manage Access for sysadmins who think host-first.\\n\\n**Account (`/account`)** — new page (every role):\\n- Username (read-only).\\n- \\\"Your access\\\" — list of hosts you can see and at what level.\\n- \\\"Change password\\\" form.\\n\\n#### 4.2.6 Auth context additions\\n\\n`AuthContext` payload extends:\\n```ts\\ninterface AuthContextValue {\\n token, username, role,\\n hostAccess: HostGrant[], // hydrated from /api/account/me on login\\n refreshAccess: () => Promise<void>,\\n ...\\n}\\n```\\n`hostAccess` lets the frontend hide Connect/Pair buttons it knows the server will reject — graceful UX rather than relying on 403s. `refreshAccess()` is called after admin grants change so the affected user's next page load reflects them.\\n\\nA new component `<RequireHostAccess hostIp level fallback>` gates UI bits client-side, mirroring the backend middleware.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 5. Data Flow Examples\\n\\n### 5.1 New family member onboarding\\n\\n1. Admin opens `/settings/invites`, clicks **Create invite**.\\n2. Picks role `member`, host-access `{family-room-pc: connect}`, expiry 7 days, label \\\"Lily\\\".\\n3. Server creates invite, returns raw token. Modal shows `https://relay/invite/abc123…` with a copy button.\\n4. Admin sends link to Lily over text.\\n5. Lily opens link on her iPad. `GET /api/invite/abc123…` returns `{label: \\\"Lily\\\", role: \\\"member\\\", host_count: 1, expires_at: ...}` — note: response omits raw host IPs/names to avoid leaking topology to anyone who finds the URL.\\n6. Page shows \\\"You've been invited — pick a username and password.\\\" Lily picks `lily` + a password.\\n7. `POST /api/invite/abc123…/redeem` → user created, host_acl row inserted, invite marked used, JWT returned.\\n8. Lily lands on `/`. She sees exactly one host (`family-room-pc`) with a Connect button. Other hosts are invisible.\\n\\n### 5.2 Streaming a host\\n\\n1. Lily clicks **Connect** on `family-room-pc`.\\n2. Frontend: `POST /api/connect {ip: 100.x.x.x}`.\\n3. Backend: `Middleware` validates JWT → `RequireHostAccess(store, \\\"connect\\\")` looks up `host_acl` for `(user_id=lily, host_ip=100.x.x.x)` → finds `level=connect` → passes.\\n4. `launcher.Stream()` runs Moonlight CLI → registers session → returns ok.\\n5. Toast: \\\"Launching Moonlight…\\\"\\n\\n### 5.3 Admin grants access to an existing user\\n\\n1. Admin in `/settings/users`, clicks **Manage access** on row `alex`.\\n2. Modal lists hosts with current levels (radio: none / view / connect / manage).\\n3. Admin flips `living-room-pc` from none → `connect`. Modal posts `PUT /api/admin/hosts/100.y.y.y/access/<alex_id>` with `{level: \\\"connect\\\"}`.\\n4. Server inserts/updates `host_acl`. 200 ok.\\n5. Alex's next `/api/hosts` poll (3s loop in `useStatus`) returns the new host. No reload needed.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 6. Error Handling\\n\\n| Failure | UX | Backend behavior |\\n|---|---|---|\\n| Invite expired | Redemption page shows \\\"This invite has expired. Ask whoever sent it for a new one.\\\" | `GET /api/invite/:token` → 404 if expired/used (don't differentiate — opaque) |\\n| Invite already used | Same as expired | Same |\\n| Username taken on redemption | Inline error under field | 409 `{error: \\\"username already in use\\\"}` |\\n| Password too short | Client-side validation; backend re-checks | 400 |\\n| Connect denied | Toast: \\\"You don't have access to that host.\\\" Button hidden as fallback. | 403 (HostACL middleware) |\\n| Setup attempted after first admin exists | Frontend: redirect to `/login`. | `POST /api/setup` returns 409 once `users` is non-empty. |\\n| Tailscale offline at setup | Wizard final step shows a soft error: \\\"Couldn't reach Tailscale. Check the auth key in Settings → VPN.\\\" Setup still completes; user can fix and restart. | Tailscale failure already non-fatal in `main.go`. |\\n| ACL points at a host that's gone offline / IP changed | Host disappears from the user's grid (filtered out by intersection). Admin sees \\\"orphaned grants\\\" indicator on the access page. | `GET /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access` returns the rows regardless. UI marks them stale if no host with that IP currently exists. |\\n| Lost JWT secret | All sessions invalidated on next request (existing behavior). | Existing. |\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 7. Testing Strategy\\n\\nExisting tests in `db/db_test.go` and `auth/jwt_test.go` stay. Net-new coverage:\\n\\n**Backend (Go, `_test.go` next to source):**\\n- `db/db_test.go` — extend with `host_acl` CRUD, level promotion/revocation, cascade-on-user-delete; invite create/peek/redeem (incl. one-time-use, expiry, hashed-token verification, transaction atomicity if `users` insert fails after invite update).\\n- `db/migrations_test.go` — new file. Spin up an in-memory DB seeded with v1 schema + a row with `role='user'`, run migration, assert `role='member'`, assert `user_version=2`, assert idempotency on second run.\\n- `auth/middleware_test.go` — extend with `RequireHostAccess` table tests: admin bypasses, viewer capped at `view`, member ranked correctly, missing grant → 403.\\n- `api/invites_test.go` — handler integration with httptest: redemption happy path + race protection (concurrent redeem of same token → exactly one succeeds).\\n- `api/access_test.go` — grant/revoke endpoint integration.\\n- `api/setup_test.go` — `needs_setup` toggles correctly; `POST /api/setup` rejected when users exist.\\n- `api/hosts_filter_test.go` — `/api/hosts` returns admin's full view, member's filtered view, viewer's filtered view (capped).\\n\\n**Frontend:** existing project ships no test infra. I won't add a test framework in this iteration; defer to a future spec. Manual smoke checklist captured in §11.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 8. Migration & Rollout\\n\\nContainer restart is required only because shipping the new image is itself a `docker compose up -d` cycle. The DB migration runs in-process, no restart needed for the migration itself; subsequent Tailscale config changes via `/setup` or `/settings/vpn` still require a restart, same as today.\\n\\n**Order of operations on first boot of new image:**\\n1. `db.migrate()` runs:\\n - Creates `host_acl`, `invites` tables (no-op if present).\\n - If `user_version < 2`: rebuilds `users` with new role enum, maps `'user'` → `'member'`, sets `user_version=2`.\\n - **Backward-compat grandfathering:** for every existing non-admin user, insert `host_acl` rows for every host currently known to `discoverer.Hosts()` (which includes mDNS-discovered + manually-added hosts), *at first migration time only*. The level granted matches the user's cap: `member` → `connect`, `viewer` → `view`. This preserves \\\"old `user`-role accounts can still connect to everything they could before.\\\" Tracked by `user_version`.\\n2. Server starts. `needs_setup` is false (admin already exists).\\n3. Existing JWTs remain valid until expiry; users keep working.\\n4. New invite/setup endpoints become available.\\n\\n**Rollback:** the migration adds tables + rebuilds `users`. Rollback to v1 image would fail the v1 CHECK constraint on rows where role is now `'member'`. To make rollback safe, the migration also writes `'user'` and `'member'` as both-valid in v2 (CHECK accepts a superset: `'admin','user','member','viewer'`) and the application-level code only ever writes `'member'`. Old image reading these rows will see `'member'` users and reject them at JWT-issue time, but won't crash on schema. Acceptable; document in the release note.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 9. Out of Scope (this iteration)\\n\\n- **Groups / teams.** Direct user→host grants only. Add later when we feel the pain.\\n- **Audit log.** Sessions table already exists; full audit (who-granted-what-when) is captured in `host_acl.granted_by/granted_at` but not surfaced in UI.\\n- **Email-based invites.** No SMTP in homelab.\\n- **2FA / passkeys.** JWT + bcrypt only.\\n- **Per-host renaming.** Mentioned in the previous spec; still parked.\\n- **Apollo/Artemis app list per host.** Still parked.\\n- **i18n.** English only.\\n- **Deep theming.** Dark only.\\n- **Real-time push (WebSocket).** Polling stays at 3s.\\n- **OIDC / SSO.** No.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 10. Manual Smoke Checklist (to run post-deploy)\\n\\n1. **Fresh DB** (`rm /data/dragonrelay.db` on a test container) → open the URL → `/setup` wizard appears → complete → land on dashboard.\\n2. **Existing DB** → migrate runs without errors → `users.role` for old `user` rows is now `member`, old `viewer` rows stay `viewer` → grandfathered `host_acl` rows match the cap (`member`→connect, `viewer`→view) for every currently-known host.\\n3. **Invite flow** end-to-end on a second browser/device.\\n4. **Per-host gating**: as a `member` with `view` on one host, verify Connect is hidden and a direct API call returns 403.\\n5. **Admin bypass**: admin still sees and can act on every host without explicit grants.\\n6. **Mobile**: load on a phone (≥ 375px), open dashboard, sidebar collapses, host card is tap-friendly, Connect works.\\n7. **Dark-only**: no white flash on load.\\n8. **Logout clears `hostAccess`** state in AuthContext.\\n\\n---\\n\\n## 12. Open Questions (none blocking — defaults chosen)\\n\\n- *Should viewers be able to redeem invites that grant them connect/manage levels?* **Default:** invite role and host levels are independent — a viewer-role invite caps at `view` per the global rule even if the invite specifies `connect`. UI in invite-create modal warns when levels are lowered by role.\\n- *Should we expose host-level rename in this pass?* **Default:** no — it's still parked. Rows in `host_acl` key on IP, not name.\\n- *Do we keep `DRAGONRELAY_ADMIN_PASSWORD` env var?* **Default:** yes, as a fallback for unattended Docker setups (e.g. TrueNAS reinstall). Wizard is preferred but optional.\\n\"}"}]},"uuid":"20bed7b7-0ce7-4f2c-ba8c-604890c462d1","timestamp":"2026-05-06T03:23:36.826Z","sourceToolAssistantUUID":"e1cee722-9335-4883-9774-399759aeaa8c","userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-ts","cwd":"/home/node","sessionId":"9b13371c-0b62-457e-a8bf-a331b2d5b744","version":"2.1.129","gitBranch":"HEAD"}

Picked up by a Claude session with the `superpowers:subagent-driven-development` skill, then suspended for the user to resume elsewhere.\n\n---\n\n### Run configuration\n\nThe user authorized autonomous execution under these constraints:\n\n| Knob | Value |\n|---|---|\n| Scope this run | Backend only — Phases 1–4 (Tasks 1–11 of 30) |\n| Branch | `main` (live — no feature branch was used) |\n| Working tree | Forgejo MCP only (`forgejo_get_file` / `forgejo_upload_file` / `forgejo_upload_files_batch`) |\n| Test execution | **None.** No local clone exists in the session. The plan's \"run test → verify FAIL/PASS\" steps were treated as eyeball-review of the diff. |\n| Reviews | Two-stage per task: spec compliance review, then code quality review. Both as separate subagents. |\n\nThese constraints carry over until a future session changes them. **No `go test` or `npm run build` has been executed against any commit on this branch.** Run them on a checkout before relying on the new code.\n\n---\n\n### Progress\n\n#### ✅ Complete\n\n##### Task 1 — DB schema additions: `host_acl` and `invites` tables, versioned migrations\n\n- `backend/internal/db/db.go` — `migrate()` rewritten as a transactional `user_version` ladder (v0→v1→v2). The v2 step rebuilds `users` with a CHECK-constraint superset (`'admin','user','member','viewer'`) for rollback safety, maps existing `'user'` rows to `'member'`, then creates `host_acl` and `invites`.\n - Commit: `58a149a`\n- `backend/internal/db/migrations_test.go` — **new file**, declared `package db` (internal test package, NOT `package db_test`), holds two tests: `TestMigrateCreatesHostACLAndInvites` and `TestUserVersionAfterMigrate`.\n - Commit: `7e254ce`\n - **Why a new file:** the existing `db_test.go` is `package db_test`, but the new tests reference the unexported `s.db` field and so must be in `package db`. Keep this convention going for migration-internals tests; tests that only need the public API can stay in `db_test.go`.\n- `backend/internal/db/db_test.go` — unchanged.\n\n**Spec compliance review:** ✅ APPROVED (subagent verified by re-fetching the committed files; transaction wrapping, version guards, schema columns/CHECKs/FKs/PKs all match the spec; no extra code).\n\n**Code quality review:** ⚠️ **NOT YET RUN.** The session paused at the point of dispatching the code-quality reviewer subagent. To resume, run the standard code review against `git diff <pre-Task-1-SHA>..7e254ce -- backend/internal/db/`. Use the template at `superpowers:requesting-code-review` (`code-reviewer.md`).\n\n#### ⏳ Pending — Tasks 2 through 11\n\n| # | Task | Files | Notes for the next implementer |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| 2 | Migration test (user→member rename + idempotency) | append to `backend/internal/db/migrations_test.go` | Plan-quoted code uses `&Store{db: d}` directly — works because the test file is now `package db`. |\n| 3 | Host ACL CRUD helpers | `backend/internal/db/db.go` (append), `backend/internal/db/db_test.go` (append, public-API tests) | Add `HostGrant`, `HostACLEntry` types; `Grant/Revoke/Get/ListUserHostAccess/ListHostACL`. Imports `database/sql` (already present). Tests can stay in `package db_test` since they use only public methods. |\n| 4 | Invite CRUD + redemption | same two files | Adds `crypto/sha256`, `encoding/hex`, `encoding/json`, `errors` imports. `RedeemInvite` is the transactional invite-consumer that issues credentials. Caps viewer-role invites at level `view` regardless of grant. Exposes `ErrInviteInvalid`. |\n| 5 | `RequireHostAccess` middleware | new `backend/internal/auth/host_access.go`, new `backend/internal/auth/host_access_test.go` | Also expose a public `LevelRank(level) int` helper from this file — Task 10 calls it from the API package. Test file uses `package auth_test`. Setup helper builds a stub router that injects `&auth.Claims{}` into the context. |\n| 6 | Setup endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/setup.go`, new `backend/internal/api/setup_test.go`, modify `backend/internal/api/api.go` | Defines `MinPasswordLen = 8`. `POST /api/setup` is public, idempotency-guarded against existing users (re-checks under no lock). Calls `auth.SignToken`. The shared `newTestServer(t)` helper lives here and is reused by Tasks 7, 8, 10. |\n| 7 | Invite endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/invites.go`, new `backend/internal/api/invites_test.go`, modify `api.go` | Public `GET /api/invite/:token` (peek) returns label/role/host_count/expires_at — **does NOT leak host IPs**. `POST /api/invite/:token/redeem` validates uniqueness, length ≥ MinPasswordLen, transactional via `db.RedeemInvite`. Admin endpoints under `/api/admin/invites`. |\n| 8 | Host-ACL endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/access.go`, new `backend/internal/api/access_test.go`, modify `api.go` | Four admin handlers: `GET /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access`, `PUT/DELETE /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access/:user_id`, `GET /api/admin/users/:id/access`. |\n| 9 | Account endpoints | new `backend/internal/api/account.go`, modify `api.go` | `GET /api/account/me` returns `{id, username, role, created_at, host_access[]}`. `PUT /api/account/password` with old + new (≥ MinPasswordLen). Imports `dragonrelay/internal/db`. No new test file in the plan; covered by integration via existing patterns. |\n| 10 | Filter `/api/hosts` + ACL on connect/pair/delete | modify `backend/internal/api/api.go`, new `backend/internal/api/hosts_filter_test.go`, modify `backend/internal/auth/host_access.go` | Replaces the current `RequireRole(\"admin\",\"user\")` middleware on connect/pair/delete with a body-aware in-handler `s.checkHostAccess(c, ip, level)` helper (because connect/pair pass IP in body, not URL). Filters `/api/hosts` to only IPs the caller has any grant on (admin sees all). |\n| 11 | Migration backfill | modify `backend/internal/db/db.go`, append to `backend/internal/db/migrations_test.go`, modify `backend/cmd/dragonrelay/main.go` | New `BackfillHostACL([]string)`: for every non-admin user, INSERT-OR-IGNORE `host_acl` rows. `member`→`connect`, `viewer`→`view`. `main.go` runs this after a 5-second delay so the discoverer has had time to gather hosts. Idempotent, runs every boot — safe. |\n\n#### 🚫 Out of scope this run — Tasks 12 through 30\n\nThe user scoped this run to the backend (Phases 1–4). Frontend work (Tasks 12–28: deps, design tokens, UI primitives, AppShell, all pages, Settings refactor) and polish (Tasks 29–30: README, smoke pass) were explicitly deferred.\n\n---\n\n### Constraints / gotchas the next session should know\n\n1. **Test execution is the open risk.** Every commit on this branch since `dd5842e` has been written without `go test` ever running. Before merging Task 1's commits into a release, run:\n ```bash\n cd backend && go test ./internal/db -v -run 'TestMigrate|TestUserVersion'\n ```\n (and the same for any subsequent task's tests).\n\n2. **Test package split.** Migration internals (anything touching the unexported `db` field of `Store`) goes in `package db` files like `migrations_test.go`. Public-API tests stay in `package db_test`. Don't mix.\n\n3. **Forgejo MCP commits one file per call.** `forgejo_upload_files_batch` exists and was used for Task 1; it produces one commit per file (with the same prefix message). The plan's \"Step N: Commit\" lines that bundle multiple files into one commit are aspirational under this tool — accept that each task produces N commits where N = files touched.\n\n4. **The full plan content** (4484 lines, 130KB) is **not** in the repo. The committed plan file is a stub with a task index. The full plan lives only in the user's local workspace folder at `~/Documents/Claude/Projects/Dragonflight Relay/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign.md`. The next session can either work from that local copy, or paste the full task text per-task into implementer subagent prompts the way the previous session did.\n\n5. **Task code quality review for Task 1 is owed.** Don't move on to Task 2 without running it.\n\n6. **No worktree / feature branch.** Subsequent sessions could choose to create one and rebase the Task-1 commits — preferable for production hygiene, but the user explicitly chose `main` for this run.\n\n---\n\n### How to resume\n\nIn a new session:\n\n1. Open the project folder, attach this status file or summarize it.\n2. Read the spec and the local copy of the plan.\n3. Run the deferred Task 1 code quality review (template: `superpowers:requesting-code-review`).\n4. Address any quality issues found, then dispatch the Task 2 implementer per the plan.\n5. Continue with subagent-driven-development through Task 11 (or change scope).\n\nA short prompt to bootstrap a new session:\n\n> Read `docs/superpowers/plans/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign-STATUS.md` and the plan + spec it links to. We paused after Task 1's spec review approved. Run the deferred code-quality review on Task 1's diff (commits up to `7e254ce`), address findings, then execute Tasks 2–11 the same way: implementer subagent → spec review → code review → next.\n\n---\n\n## File: docs/superpowers/plans/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign.md\n\n# Dragon Flight Relay — UI Redesign, Per-Host Permissions & Onboarding — Implementation Plan\n\n> **For agentic workers:** REQUIRED SUB-SKILL: Use superpowers:subagent-driven-development (recommended) or superpowers:executing-plans to implement this plan task-by-task. Steps use checkbox (`- [ ]`) syntax for tracking.\n\n**Goal:** Refresh the Dragon Flight Relay UI, add per-host ACL on top of the existing role system, and ship in-product onboarding (first-run wizard + invite links).\n\n**Architecture:** No process re-architecture. Backend gains two new SQLite tables (`host_acl`, `invites`), a host-access middleware, and four new API files (`setup.go`, `invites.go`, `access.go`, `account.go`). Frontend adds `react-router-dom`, a slate/violet design system, hand-rolled UI primitives, an `AppShell` layout, and four new pages (Setup, InviteRedeem, Account, plus refreshed Dashboard).\n\n**Tech Stack:** Go (Gin, mattn/go-sqlite3, golang-jwt, bcrypt) · React 18 + TypeScript + Vite · Tailwind CSS · react-router-dom v6 · clsx + tailwind-merge\n\n**Spec:** [`docs/superpowers/specs/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign-design.md`](../specs/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign-design.md)\n\n---\n\n### Phasing\n\n| Phase | Tasks | Outcome |\n|---|---|---|\n| 1. The Forgejo MCP tool has a content-size limit that\nprevented embedding the full plan in a single commit. To bring the full plan into the repo,\ncopy the workspace file in over this stub:\n\n```bash\n# From your local checkout:\ncp ~/Documents/Claude/Projects/Dragonflight\\ Relay/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign.md \\\n docs/superpowers/plans/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign.md\ngit add docs/superpowers/plans/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign.md\ngit commit -m \"plan: full implementation plan content\"\ngit push\n```\n\nOr use the Forgejo web UI's file upload to replace this file with the workspace file directly.\n\n---\n\n## File: docs/superpowers/specs/2026-05-05-dragonrelay-redesign-design.md\n\n# Dragon Flight Relay — UI Redesign, Per-Host Permissions & Onboarding\n**Date:** 2026-05-05\n**Status:** Draft (autonomous design — author Zac authorized push-through)\n**Prior art:** [`2026-04-13-dragon-flight-relay-design.md`](./2026-04-13-dragon-flight-relay-design.md)\n**Scope:** Three user-facing improvements to the existing, deployed Dragon Flight Relay server:\n1. UI refresh — design system, layout, and component polish\n2. Per-host permissions — granular access control on top of existing roles\n3. Onboarding — first-run setup wizard for the admin, invite-link flow for everyone else\n\n---\n\n## 1. Context\n\nDragon Flight Relay is currently deployed in production on a TrueNAS box. The April spec (rename, JWT auth, three roles, admin panel, SQLite, sessions) shipped and is in use. This iteration is the second pass — adding polish and the access-control primitives that the homelab/family use case actually needs.\n\n### What's already in place (don't rebuild)\n- Go backend: `discovery`, `moonlight`, `tailscale`, `db`, `auth`, `config`, `api` packages\n- JWT auth, three roles (`admin` / `user` / `viewer`), bcrypt password hashing\n- SQLite at `/data/dragonrelay.db` with `users` table; `migrate()` is idempotent\n- React + Vite + TS frontend with Tailwind, `AuthContext`, `RequireRole`, full Settings page (VPN / Hosts / Sessions / Users tabs)\n- mDNS discovery, manual host add, session registry, sessions disconnect\n\n### What hurts today\n- **UI** is functional but feels like a v0: navy + crimson palette, dense tables, no design system, no toasts, full-page modal Settings, no proper routing, inline state-flashes. Doesn't feel like something you want to look at every day.\n- **Permissions are coarse**: a `user` can connect to *every* host the relay can see. There's no way to give the kids access only to the family-room PC, or give a friend temporary access to one host without giving them the whole tailnet's worth of streams.\n- **Onboarding is friction-heavy**: admin must SSH in to set `DRAGONRELAY_ADMIN_PASSWORD`, restart, log in, then manually create each user with a chosen username + password to share over text. There's no in-product first-run flow and no invite primitive.\n\n---\n\n## 2. Design Decisions (Made Autonomously)\n\nThese are the calls I made without asking. Push back on any of them in spec review.\n\n| Decision | What I picked | Alternative I rejected | Why |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| **Permission model** | Three global roles (`admin`, `member`, `viewer`) **+** per-host ACL with three levels (`view`, `connect`, `manage`) | Groups (users → groups → hosts) | Groups add a layer for a household-scale tool. Direct ACL is cheaper to build and reason about. Easy to add groups later if needed. |\n| **Role rename** | `user` → `member`, keep `viewer`, drop nothing | Drop `viewer` entirely | `viewer` is a useful \"I trust you to look but not click\" tier (e.g. parent showing kid the dashboard). Keep it. |\n| **ACL default** | New non-admin users see **zero** hosts until granted | Default to access-all (current behavior) | Principle of least privilege; matches the use case (\"only the kids can stream the family-room PC\"). Migration grandfathers existing members in. |\n| **Onboarding A — first run** | In-product `/setup` wizard when 0 users exist; replaces the env-var seed flow (env still works as fallback) | Keep CLI-only seeding | The user said \"easy onboarding.\" A wizard is the obvious win. Env-var fallback preserves backward compat for unattended Docker rebuilds. |\n| **Onboarding B — invites** | Admin generates a single-use invite link with pre-set role + host access; invitee picks own username + password | Email-based magic links | No SMTP server in a homelab. A copy-pasteable link sent over Signal/SMS is what people actually do. |\n| **Invite token** | URL-safe random (32 bytes), stored hashed in DB, expires after 7 days, single-use | JWT with claims | Hashed random tokens are revocable and can't be tampered with. JWTs leak claims and don't revoke without a blocklist. |\n| **UI direction** | New design system: slate base, violet accent, warm \"connect\" CTA. Sidebar nav layout. React Router. Toast system. Lightweight UI primitives (`Button`/`Input`/`Card`/`Badge`/`Toast`/`Modal`/`Select`) — no shadcn/ui. | shadcn/ui scaffold | The whole frontend bundle is small today; shadcn brings in Radix primitives that are great but heavier than needed for this surface area. Hand-rolled primitives stay close to the existing Tailwind setup. |\n| **Routing** | Add `react-router-dom` v6 — routes for `/`, `/login`, `/setup`, `/invite/:token`, `/settings/*`, `/account` | State-based view switching (current) | The Settings page is doing nested-tab gymnastics in `useState`. Real routes are cheaper, give us deep links, and let the invite/setup flows live at proper URLs. |\n| **Mobile** | Responsive down to ~375px. Sidebar collapses to bottom-nav on small screens. | Desktop-only | You'll want to launch a stream from your phone while sitting on the couch. |\n| **Visuals** | Keep dragon emoji as fallback but ship an inline SVG dragon mark for the wordmark. Inter font. Subtle glow on online host cards. | Custom illustration suite | Out of scope for this pass; SVG mark is enough lift for the brand. |\n\n---\n\n## 3. Net new code is bounded to three new files in `api/`, one helper in `auth/`, and three new tables in `db/`.\n\n---\n\n## 4. Component Design\n\n### 4.1 Backend\n\n#### 4.1.1 Schema additions (in `internal/db/db.go`)\n\n```sql\n-- Per-host access grants. Admins are not present here (implicit access).\nCREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS host_acl (\n host_ip TEXT NOT NULL,\n user_id INTEGER NOT NULL,\n level TEXT NOT NULL CHECK(level IN ('view','connect','manage')),\n granted_by INTEGER,\n granted_at DATETIME DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,\n PRIMARY KEY (host_ip, user_id),\n FOREIGN KEY (user_id) REFERENCES users(id) ON DELETE CASCADE,\n FOREIGN KEY (granted_by) REFERENCES users(id) ON DELETE SET NULL\n);\n\n-- Invite links. Token stored as sha256 hex; raw token shown once on creation.\nCREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS invites (\n id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT,\n token_hash TEXT NOT NULL UNIQUE,\n label TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', -- \"Kids\" or \"Mom's iPad\"\n role TEXT NOT NULL CHECK(role IN ('admin','member','viewer')),\n host_access TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '[]', -- JSON: [{\"host_ip\":\"...\",\"level\":\"connect\"}]\n created_by INTEGER NOT NULL,\n created_at DATETIME DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,\n expires_at DATETIME NOT NULL,\n used_at DATETIME,\n used_by_user_id INTEGER,\n FOREIGN KEY (created_by) REFERENCES users(id),\n FOREIGN KEY (used_by_user_id) REFERENCES users(id)\n);\n```\n\n**Role enum migration:** the existing `users.role` CHECK constraint allows `('admin','user','viewer')`. SQLite can't `ALTER TABLE` a CHECK constraint, so the migration:\n1. Creates `users_new` with the new constraint `('admin','member','viewer')`.\n2. Copies rows, mapping `user → member`.\n3. Drops `users`, renames `users_new → users`.\n4. Recreates the unique index on `username`.\n\nWrapped in a transaction. Idempotent — guard with `PRAGMA user_version` check (set `user_version=2` after migration).\n\n**Level semantics:**\n- `view` — host appears in the user's `/api/hosts` response. Cannot connect, pair, modify.\n- `connect` — `view` + can `POST /api/connect` to launch the stream.\n- `manage` — `connect` + can `POST /api/pair`, `DELETE /api/hosts/:ip`, rename. Still cannot grant access (admin-only).\n- `admin` global role — bypasses all checks.\n- `viewer` global role — capped at `view` regardless of grants. Used for read-only audit accounts.\n\n**Host identity:** ACL keys on `host_ip`. mDNS-discovered hosts and manually-added hosts both have stable IPs in this deployment (Tailscale IPs are stable per device). If a host's IP changes, its ACL is orphaned and must be re-granted. This matches Tailscale's mental model and is acceptable for the homelab use case.\n\n#### 4.1.2 Db helpers (added to `internal/db/db.go`)\n\n```go\n// Host ACL\nfunc (s *Store) ListHostACL(hostIP string) ([]HostGrant, error)\nfunc (s *Store) ListUserHostAccess(userID int64) ([]HostGrant, error)\nfunc (s *Store) GetHostAccess(userID int64, hostIP string) (level string, ok bool, err error)\nfunc (s *Store) GrantHostAccess(userID int64, hostIP, level string, grantedBy int64) error\nfunc (s *Store) RevokeHostAccess(userID int64, hostIP string) error\n\n// Invites — token argument is the raw secret; we hash inside.\nfunc (s *Store) CreateInvite(token, label, role string, hostAccess []HostGrant, createdBy int64, expires time.Time) (int64, error)\nfunc (s *Store) ListActiveInvites() ([]InviteRecord, error)\nfunc (s *Store) GetInviteByToken(token string) (*InviteRecord, error)\nfunc (s *Store) RedeemInvite(token, username, password string) (userID int64, err error)\nfunc (s *Store) RevokeInvite(id int64) error\n\ntype HostGrant struct {\n HostIP string `json:\"host_ip\"`\n Level string `json:\"level\"` // \"view\" | \"connect\" | \"manage\"\n}\n\ntype InviteRecord struct {\n ID int64\n Label string\n Role string\n HostAccess []HostGrant\n CreatedBy int64\n CreatedAt time.Time\n ExpiresAt time.Time\n UsedAt *time.Time\n UsedByID *int64\n}\n```\n\n`RedeemInvite` is the only mutation that issues credentials: it does, in one transaction, `INSERT INTO users` + bulk `INSERT INTO host_acl` + mark the invite used.\n\n#### 4.1.3 Middleware\n\nIn `internal/auth/middleware.go`, add:\n\n```go\n// RequireHostAccess returns a handler that aborts 403 if the authenticated\n// user lacks the required level for the host IP at param `:ip`.\n// admins bypass; viewers are capped at \"view\".\nfunc RequireHostAccess(store *db.Store, minLevel string) gin.HandlerFunc\n```\n\nThe hierarchy `view < connect < manage` is encoded as `levelRank(level) >= levelRank(minLevel)`.\n\n#### 4.1.4 Route changes\n\n```\nPUBLIC (no auth):\n POST /api/auth/login unchanged\n POST /api/auth/logout unchanged\n GET /api/setup/state NEW — returns {needs_setup: bool}\n POST /api/setup NEW — only valid when needs_setup\n GET /api/invite/:token NEW — peek invite (label, role, host count, expires)\n POST /api/invite/:token/redeem NEW — body {username, password} → {token}\n\nAUTHED (JWT required):\n GET /api/status unchanged\n GET /api/hosts CHANGED — filtered by ACL (admin sees all)\n POST /api/connect CHANGED — RequireHostAccess(store, \"connect\")\n POST /api/pair CHANGED — RequireHostAccess(store, \"manage\")\n DELETE /api/hosts/:ip CHANGED — RequireHostAccess(store, \"manage\")\n POST /api/hosts/manual unchanged (admin-only)\n GET /api/admin/sessions unchanged\n GET /api/account/me NEW — current user + access list\n PUT /api/account/password NEW — self-service password change\n\nADMIN-ONLY:\n GET /api/admin/config unchanged\n PUT /api/admin/config unchanged\n POST /api/admin/sessions/:id/disconnect unchanged\n GET /api/admin/users unchanged\n POST /api/admin/users unchanged\n PUT /api/admin/users/:id unchanged\n DELETE /api/admin/users/:id unchanged\n GET /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access NEW — list grants for a host\n PUT /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access/:user_id NEW — body {level} → grant\n DELETE /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access/:user_id NEW — revoke\n GET /api/admin/users/:id/access NEW — list grants for a user (alt view)\n GET /api/admin/invites NEW — list active invites\n POST /api/admin/invites NEW — body {label, role, host_access[], expires_in_days} → {token, url}\n DELETE /api/admin/invites/:id NEW — revoke\n```\n\n**Filtering of `/api/hosts`** is implemented in the handler, not the discoverer: `Discoverer.Hosts()` keeps returning all hosts, and the API layer filters per-request based on the caller's claims + ACL. Keeps the discoverer pure and ACL logic concentrated in `api/`.\n\n#### 4.1.5 First-run setup\n\n`GET /api/setup/state` returns `{\"needs_setup\": true}` iff `SELECT COUNT(*) FROM users == 0`. The frontend hits this on app load before deciding what to render.\n\n`POST /api/setup` body:\n```json\n{\n \"admin_username\": \"zac\",\n \"admin_password\": \"...\",\n \"ts_authkey\": \"tskey-auth-...\",\n \"ts_hostname\": \"dragonrelay\",\n \"lan_only\": false\n}\n```\nServer:\n1. Re-checks `users` table is empty (race protection).\n2. Creates the admin user.\n3. Persists the Tailscale fields to `config.json` (only if non-LAN-only).\n4. Returns `{\"token\": \"...\", \"restart_required\": <bool>}` — `restart_required` is true iff Tailscale config was actually written (LAN-only setup needs no restart). Frontend shows \"Container restarting…\" only when true, then polls `/api/status` until reconnected and redirects.\n\nIf `DRAGONRELAY_ADMIN_PASSWORD` env is set on a fresh boot, the existing seed code still runs — `needs_setup` then returns `false`. The wizard is one of two paths to first-admin, not the only one.\n\n#### 4.1.6 Invite redemption\n\n`POST /api/invite/:token/redeem` body:\n```json\n{ \"username\": \"alex\", \"password\": \"...\" }\n```\nServer (in a single transaction):\n1. Look up invite by `sha256(token)`. 404 if missing, expired, or used.\n2. Validate username uniqueness. 409 on conflict.\n3. Validate password length ≥ 8 (the same minimum used by the setup wizard; both share a `auth.MinPasswordLen` constant).\n4. Insert user with the invite's role.\n5. Bulk-insert all host_acl rows from the invite's host_access JSON.\n6. Mark invite `used_at = now`, `used_by_user_id = new_user_id`.\n7. Issue JWT.\n8. Return `{\"token\": \"...\"}`.\n\n### 4.2 Frontend\n\n#### 4.2.1 Tooling additions\n\n- `react-router-dom@^6` — routing\n- `clsx` + `tailwind-merge` — `cn()` helper for the UI primitives\n- (No shadcn/ui, no Radix; no Headless UI.)\n\n`package.json` `name` field also flips from `moonlight-relay` → `dragonrelay` (lingering rename leftover).\n\n#### 4.2.2 Design system\n\n`src/lib/design.ts` — single source of truth for tokens. Updated `tailwind.config.js`:\n\n```js\ncolors: {\n bg: {\n DEFAULT: '#0b0d12', // slate-950 ish\n raised: '#11141c',\n sunken: '#070810',\n elev1: '#1a1d27',\n elev2: '#252a37',\n },\n text: {\n primary: '#f4f5f8',\n secondary: '#9aa3b2',\n muted: '#5d6677',\n },\n brand: {\n DEFAULT: '#7c3aed', // violet-600\n hover: '#6d28d9',\n glow: '#a78bfa66',\n },\n cta: {\n DEFAULT: '#f97316', // amber-500 — for \"Connect\"\n hover: '#ea580c',\n },\n status: {\n online: '#10b981',\n offline: '#6b7280',\n busy: '#f59e0b',\n error: '#ef4444',\n },\n},\nfontFamily: {\n sans: ['Inter','system-ui','-apple-system','Segoe UI','Roboto','sans-serif'],\n mono: ['JetBrains Mono','ui-monospace','SF Mono','Menlo','monospace'],\n},\nborderRadius: {\n // Slightly rounder than current — more \"soft tech\"\n card: '14px',\n pill: '9999px',\n},\n```\n\nExisting `surface`/`accent` color tokens stay aliased to the new ones for one release so we don't have to flip every file at once.\n\n#### 4.2.3 UI primitives — `src/components/ui/`\n\nHand-rolled, ~30 LOC each. No external deps.\n\n- `Button` — variants `primary | cta | secondary | ghost | danger`, sizes `sm | md | lg`, loading state.\n- `Input`, `Textarea`, `Select` — labeled, error state, helper text.\n- `Card` — section container with optional title/footer.\n- `Badge` — statuses (online/offline/busy/error) and role tags.\n- `Modal` — focus-trapped, esc-to-close, backdrop click closes if dismissable.\n- `Toast` + `useToast()` — replaces all `setFlash(...)` patterns. Stack of dismissable banners in the bottom-right.\n- `Tooltip` — minimal CSS-only tooltip wrapper.\n- `EmptyState` — large icon + title + body + CTA.\n- `Skeleton` — pulsing block for loading.\n\n#### 4.2.4 Layout & routing\n\n`AppShell` (`src/components/layout/AppShell.tsx`) — flex layout:\n- **Desktop ≥ md:** left sidebar (240px) with logo, primary nav, account chip at bottom. Main column scrolls.\n- **Mobile < md:** topbar with logo + hamburger; nav collapses into a slide-in drawer (left edge). One layout pattern, not two — keeps shell code small.\n\n`src/main.tsx` mounts `<AuthProvider>` → `<BrowserRouter>` → `<RouteSwitch>` which decides:\n\n```\n0 users in system → redirect to /setup\nnot authenticated → redirect to /login (preserving target ?next=...)\nauthenticated → render <AppShell> with the matched route inside\n```\n\nPublic routes (`/login`, `/setup`, `/invite/:token`) render outside the shell on a centered card layout (current Login look-and-feel, refined).\n\nSettings becomes nested:\n```\n/settings → redirect to first allowed tab\n/settings/vpn (admin)\n/settings/hosts (admin)\n/settings/users (admin)\n/settings/sessions (any authed; viewer hides Disconnect)\n/settings/invites (admin)\n/settings/access (admin) — host-by-host or user-by-user matrix\n```\n\n#### 4.2.5 Pages\n\n**Dashboard (`/`)** — refreshed `App.tsx`:\n- Status card at top: VPN state, your IP, host count.\n- Host grid below. Cards refreshed with: status pill, last-seen, IP, current app (if running), big Connect button, secondary Pair / Disconnect (manage-level only).\n- Empty state: large \"no hosts yet\" card with two paths — \"Wait for discovery\" copy with a spinner, or \"Add a host manually\" CTA (admin only).\n- Toast on connect success/failure.\n\n**Setup wizard (`/setup`)** — single-card multi-step:\n1. Welcome — \"Let's get your relay online.\"\n2. Admin account — username + password + confirm.\n3. Tailscale — paste auth key OR check \"LAN-only mode.\"\n4. Hostname — defaults to `dragonrelay`.\n5. Done — \"Restarting now. We'll be back at `<addr>` in a few seconds.\"\n\nEach step has Back/Next; final step posts to `/api/setup`. If restart_required, shows a polling indicator that hits `/api/status` until it reconnects, then redirects to `/`.\n\n**Invite redemption (`/invite/:token`)** — single-card:\n- Shows \"{inviter_name} invited you to Dragon Flight Relay\" (no inviter — just \"You've been invited\").\n- Shows summary of what you'll get (role + N host(s)).\n- Username + password + confirm.\n- \"Create account\" → success → auto-login → `/`.\n\n**Settings → Users (`/settings/users`)** — refreshed table from existing UI. Actions per row include the existing Reset PW / Delete plus a new **Manage access** button that opens a modal with a host-by-host checklist (each row: host name + level dropdown). Saves call `/api/admin/users/:id/access`.\n\n**Settings → Invites (`/settings/invites`)** — new tab:\n- Table of active invites: label, role, hosts, expires in, copy-link, revoke.\n- \"Create invite\" button → modal: label, role select (member/viewer), host-access multi-select (per-host level picker), expiry days (1/3/7/30, default 7). On create, the modal flips to a \"Copy this link\" view — the raw token is shown **once**.\n\n**Settings → Access (`/settings/access`)** — new tab:\n- Pivot view: list of hosts with grant counts; clicking a host reveals user grants for that host. Mirror of Users → Manage Access for sysadmins who think host-first.\n\n**Account (`/account`)** — new page (every role):\n- Username (read-only).\n- \"Your access\" — list of hosts you can see and at what level.\n- \"Change password\" form.\n\n#### 4.2.6 Auth context additions\n\n`AuthContext` payload extends:\n```ts\ninterface AuthContextValue {\n token, username, role,\n hostAccess: HostGrant[], // hydrated from /api/account/me on login\n refreshAccess: () => Promise<void>,\n ...\n}\n```\n`hostAccess` lets the frontend hide Connect/Pair buttons it knows the server will reject — graceful UX rather than relying on 403s. `refreshAccess()` is called after admin grants change so the affected user's next page load reflects them.\n\nA new component `<RequireHostAccess hostIp level fallback>` gates UI bits client-side, mirroring the backend middleware.\n\n---\n\n## 5. Data Flow Examples\n\n### 5.1 New family member onboarding\n\n1. Admin opens `/settings/invites`, clicks **Create invite**.\n2. Picks role `member`, host-access `{family-room-pc: connect}`, expiry 7 days, label \"Lily\".\n3. Server creates invite, returns raw token. Modal shows `https://relay/invite/abc123…` with a copy button.\n4. Admin sends link to Lily over text.\n5. Lily opens link on her iPad. `GET /api/invite/abc123…` returns `{label: \"Lily\", role: \"member\", host_count: 1, expires_at: ...}` — note: response omits raw host IPs/names to avoid leaking topology to anyone who finds the URL.\n6. Page shows \"You've been invited — pick a username and password.\" Lily picks `lily` + a password.\n7. `POST /api/invite/abc123…/redeem` → user created, host_acl row inserted, invite marked used, JWT returned.\n8. Lily lands on `/`. She sees exactly one host (`family-room-pc`) with a Connect button. Other hosts are invisible.\n\n### 5.2 Streaming a host\n\n1. Lily clicks **Connect** on `family-room-pc`.\n2. Frontend: `POST /api/connect {ip: 100.x.x.x}`.\n3. Backend: `Middleware` validates JWT → `RequireHostAccess(store, \"connect\")` looks up `host_acl` for `(user_id=lily, host_ip=100.x.x.x)` → finds `level=connect` → passes.\n4. `launcher.Stream()` runs Moonlight CLI → registers session → returns ok.\n5. Toast: \"Launching Moonlight…\"\n\n### 5.3 Admin grants access to an existing user\n\n1. Admin in `/settings/users`, clicks **Manage access** on row `alex`.\n2. Modal lists hosts with current levels (radio: none / view / connect / manage).\n3. Admin flips `living-room-pc` from none → `connect`. Modal posts `PUT /api/admin/hosts/100.y.y.y/access/<alex_id>` with `{level: \"connect\"}`.\n4. Server inserts/updates `host_acl`. 200 ok.\n5. Alex's next `/api/hosts` poll (3s loop in `useStatus`) returns the new host. No reload needed.\n\n---\n\n## 6. Error Handling\n\n| Failure | UX | Backend behavior |\n|---|---|---|\n| Invite expired | Redemption page shows \"This invite has expired. Ask whoever sent it for a new one.\" | `GET /api/invite/:token` → 404 if expired/used (don't differentiate — opaque) |\n| Invite already used | Same as expired | Same |\n| Username taken on redemption | Inline error under field | 409 `{error: \"username already in use\"}` |\n| Password too short | Client-side validation; backend re-checks | 400 |\n| Connect denied | Toast: \"You don't have access to that host.\" Button hidden as fallback. | 403 (HostACL middleware) |\n| Setup attempted after first admin exists | Frontend: redirect to `/login`. | `POST /api/setup` returns 409 once `users` is non-empty. |\n| Tailscale offline at setup | Wizard final step shows a soft error: \"Couldn't reach Tailscale. Check the auth key in Settings → VPN.\" Setup still completes; user can fix and restart. | Tailscale failure already non-fatal in `main.go`. |\n| ACL points at a host that's gone offline / IP changed | Host disappears from the user's grid (filtered out by intersection). Admin sees \"orphaned grants\" indicator on the access page. | `GET /api/admin/hosts/:ip/access` returns the rows regardless. UI marks them stale if no host with that IP currently exists. |\n| Lost JWT secret | All sessions invalidated on next request (existing behavior). | Existing. |\n\n---\n\n## 7. Testing Strategy\n\nExisting tests in `db/db_test.go` and `auth/jwt_test.go` stay. Net-new coverage:\n\n**Backend (Go, `_test.go` next to source):**\n- `db/db_test.go` — extend with `host_acl` CRUD, level promotion/revocation, cascade-on-user-delete; invite create/peek/redeem (incl. one-time-use, expiry, hashed-token verification, transaction atomicity if `users` insert fails after invite update).\n- `db/migrations_test.go` — new file. Spin up an in-memory DB seeded with v1 schema + a row with `role='user'`, run migration, assert `role='member'`, assert `user_version=2`, assert idempotency on second run.\n- `auth/middleware_test.go` — extend with `RequireHostAccess` table tests: admin bypasses, viewer capped at `view`, member ranked correctly, missing grant → 403.\n- `api/invites_test.go` — handler integration with httptest: redemption happy path + race protection (concurrent redeem of same token → exactly one succeeds).\n- `api/access_test.go` — grant/revoke endpoint integration.\n- `api/setup_test.go` — `needs_setup` toggles correctly; `POST /api/setup` rejected when users exist.\n- `api/hosts_filter_test.go` — `/api/hosts` returns admin's full view, member's filtered view, viewer's filtered view (capped).\n\n**Frontend:** existing project ships no test infra. I won't add a test framework in this iteration; defer to a future spec. Manual smoke checklist captured in §11.\n\n---\n\n## 8. Migration & Rollout\n\nContainer restart is required only because shipping the new image is itself a `docker compose up -d` cycle. The DB migration runs in-process, no restart needed for the migration itself; subsequent Tailscale config changes via `/setup` or `/settings/vpn` still require a restart, same as today.\n\n**Order of operations on first boot of new image:**\n1. `db.migrate()` runs:\n - Creates `host_acl`, `invites` tables (no-op if present).\n - If `user_version < 2`: rebuilds `users` with new role enum, maps `'user'` → `'member'`, sets `user_version=2`.\n - **Backward-compat grandfathering:** for every existing non-admin user, insert `host_acl` rows for every host currently known to `discoverer.Hosts()` (which includes mDNS-discovered + manually-added hosts), *at first migration time only*. The level granted matches the user's cap: `member` → `connect`, `viewer` → `view`. This preserves \"old `user`-role accounts can still connect to everything they could before.\" Tracked by `user_version`.\n2. Server starts. `needs_setup` is false (admin already exists).\n3. Existing JWTs remain valid until expiry; users keep working.\n4. New invite/setup endpoints become available.\n\n**Rollback:** the migration adds tables + rebuilds `users`. Rollback to v1 image would fail the v1 CHECK constraint on rows where role is now `'member'`. To make rollback safe, the migration also writes `'user'` and `'member'` as both-valid in v2 (CHECK accepts a superset: `'admin','user','member','viewer'`) and the application-level code only ever writes `'member'`. Old image reading these rows will see `'member'` users and reject them at JWT-issue time, but won't crash on schema. Acceptable; document in the release note.\n\n---\n\n## 9. Out of Scope (this iteration)\n\n- **Groups / teams.** Direct user→host grants only. Add later when we feel the pain.\n- **Audit log.** Sessions table already exists; full audit (who-granted-what-when) is captured in `host_acl.granted_by/granted_at` but not surfaced in UI.\n- **Email-based invites.** No SMTP in homelab.\n- **2FA / passkeys.** JWT + bcrypt only.\n- **Per-host renaming.** Mentioned in the previous spec; still parked.\n- **Apollo/Artemis app list per host.** Still parked.\n- **i18n.** English only.\n- **Deep theming.** Dark only.\n- **Real-time push (WebSocket).** Polling stays at 3s.\n- **OIDC / SSO.** No.\n\n---\n\n## 10. Manual Smoke Checklist (to run post-deploy)\n\n1. **Fresh DB** (`rm /data/dragonrelay.db` on a test container) → open the URL → `/setup` wizard appears → complete → land on dashboard.\n2. **Existing DB** → migrate runs without errors → `users.role` for old `user` rows is now `member`, old `viewer` rows stay `viewer` → grandfathered `host_acl` rows match the cap (`member`→connect, `viewer`→view) for every currently-known host.\n3. **Invite flow** end-to-end on a second browser/device.\n4. **Per-host gating**: as a `member` with `view` on one host, verify Connect is hidden and a direct API call returns 403.\n5. **Admin bypass**: admin still sees and can act on every host without explicit grants.\n6. **Mobile**: load on a phone (≥ 375px), open dashboard, sidebar collapses, host card is tap-friendly, Connect works.\n7. **Dark-only**: no white flash on load.\n8. **Logout clears `hostAccess`** state in AuthContext.\n\n---\n\n## 12. Open Questions (none blocking — defaults chosen)\n\n- *Should viewers be able to redeem invites that grant them connect/manage levels?* **Default:** invite role and host levels are independent — a viewer-role invite caps at `view` per the global rule even if the invite specifies `connect`. UI in invite-create modal warns when levels are lowered by role.\n- *Should we expose host-level rename in this pass?* **Default:** no — it's still parked. Rows in `host_acl` key on IP, not name.\n- *Do we keep `DRAGONRELAY_ADMIN_PASSWORD` env var?* **Default:** yes, as a fallback for unattended Docker setups (e.g. TrueNAS reinstall). Wizard is preferred but optional.\n\n---\n\nAll three files have been successfully retrieved with their complete contents."}],"stop_reason":"end_turn","stop_sequence":null,"stop_details":null,"usage":{"input_tokens":7,"cache_creation_input_tokens":17613,"cache_read_input_tokens":94593,"output_tokens":15268,"server_tool_use":{"web_search_requests":0,"web_fetch_requests":0},"service_tier":"standard","cache_creation":{"ephemeral_1h_input_tokens":0,"ephemeral_5m_input_tokens":17613},"inference_geo":"","iterations":[{"input_tokens":7,"output_tokens":15268,"cache_read_input_tokens":94593,"cache_creation_input_tokens":17613,"cache_creation":{"ephemeral_5m_input_tokens":17613,"ephemeral_1h_input_tokens":0},"type":"message"}],"speed":"standard"}},"requestId":"req_011CakbhB1Gjd5kY2AeRmT8x","attributionAgent":"Explore","type":"assistant","uuid":"c19b4e5b-3c6d-4822-9295-eeb3ad91e374","timestamp":"2026-05-06T03:26:37.127Z","userType":"external","entrypoint":"sdk-ts","cwd":"/home/node","sessionId":"9b13371c-0b62-457e-a8bf-a331b2d5b744","version":"2.1.129","gitBranch":"HEAD"}
